New yorkers are the stupidest people when it comes to crossing the street and then they blame the drivers

More bike lanes are coming. Now that Skillman/43rd are being done, the DOT can install them on Northern as well. Deal with it NIMBY losers.

Greg, you have issues.
You are more than likely one of the cyclists who do not obey the rules and cry when you get hit by a car.

Vision zero
should be called Zero vision. As a driver and pedestrian I see too many people cross against the light while cars and trucks are coming or cross in the middle of the street against the light. And bicyclists who don’t have to pay for registration, inspection or insurance never follow traffic laws but yet have lanes devoted to them. Disgusting.

Yes, bicyclists have lanes dedicated to them so they don’t have to worry about ignorant and hostile drivers like you hitting them with their car.

Greg, rain man, I see areas where bike lanes don’t fit, yet the are created to capitulate to the whining you people create, bike riders contribute nothing, and are the worst most disrespectful, selfish people on the road

Speed bumps, crosswalks are needed more than bike Lanes and less parking.there are approx 100 k Uber and Lyft vehicles .accidents are caused by vehicles going to and from not necessarily from vehiclest from yhat area…less parking spots in an area ,bike Lanes, congestion pricing solves nothing. 100 k Uber Lyft vehicles causes more road damage causing more bike accidents.less parking in an area causes more frustration looking for parking will cause more accidents.solution…more crosswalks speed bumps .4 way stop signs ,signal lights ,cameras, speed limits will lower accidents and make for safer streets.

How about people and bicyclist obeying the laws as well. Cross on the green, with your eyes off the cell phone, without headphones, while not texting. Bike riders, stop at the red lights, stop signs, etc. etc.

Native New Yorker.

I love all the Sunnyside NIMBYs chiming in about needed safety improvements on Northern Blvd. So much concern! ?

Go petition the DOT to put in more crosswalks then. This isn’t an either/or situation. They can do both.

Oh, yeah and remember that the vehicle fled the scene. Driver knows he or she f-ed up.

Glad the powers that be chose Skillman and 43rd for protected lanes. Irresponsible beaurocratic bullshit. This blood is on JVB.

The block on the south side of Northern Blvd between Honeywell St and 39th St (Steinway) is 2000 feet long with very few crosswalks. The subway exit is hundreds of feet from the crosswalks so people are always crossing out of the crosswalks. With people crossing mid block and cars using that almost half mile stretch as a speedway I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often.
Hopefully they catch the motorist and the man who was hit is OK.

The New York City Council passed a landmark bill on Wednesday, aiming to relieve renters of paying hefty broker fees — a cost that will now fall on the party who hires the listing agent. Known as the FARE Act (Fairness in Apartment Rentals), the legislation passed with a veto-proof majority of 42-8, despite opposition from Republicans and conservative Democrats.
