Three Dead After Blaze Tears Through East Elmhurst House

Three people are dead—including a 6-year-old girl—after a fire tore through an East Elmhurst house Wednesday afternoon.

The FDNY were called out to 23-49 93rd Street at about 4:11 p.m. where they pulled five people from the house. Three people were taken to area hospitals and pronounced dead—a 76-year-old man, a 23-year-old man and a 6-year-old girl. Two other victims—a 10-month-old boy and a 35-year-old woman—are clinging to life.

The names of the deceased have been held pending family notification.

The FDNY Fire Marshall has not yet determined the cause of the fire and an investigation is ongoing.
