Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez revealed Monday that she is a sexual assault survivor during an Instagram Live video, in which she also recounted more details about her harrowing experience during the Capitol riot.

“I am a survivor of sexual assault,” she said, as her voice filled with emotion. “I haven’t told many people that in my life.”

Ocasio-Cortez did not disclose the circumstances of the assault during the 90-minute video, which had been viewed more than two million times as of Tuesday morning.

The congresswoman likened many people’s attitude toward sexual assault–to that of what took place at the Capitol.

She said that she is being told “to move on,” forget and even apologize in the wake of the mob attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6. “These are the same tactics of abusers,” she said.

During the video, Ocasio-Cortez also recounted more information about the Capitol insurrection and how she hid in a bathroom and feared for her life after protestors breached the building.

The congress member said she had just returned to her office after receiving her second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination when she heard violent banging on doors in the hallway. She hid in a bathroom and then heard a man’s voice yelling “’Where is she?’”

“This was the moment where I thought everything was over,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “I have never been quieter in my entire life.”

“I felt that if this was the journey my life was taking… [that] things were going to be ok … and that I had fulfilled my purpose,” she said, before wiping away tears.

The person who had been asking where she was was in fact a Capitol police officer, who directed her to go to another location. She said the situation did not feel right and said that the officer looked at her with “a tremendous amount of anger and hostility.”

Ocasio-Cortez and a staffer then urgently sought shelter elsewhere and eventually hid in the office of Congresswoman Katie Porter. “It almost felt like a zombie movie or something,” she said.

The congress members and their staff members turned off the lights, barricaded the doors and found more casual clothing to wear in case they needed to blend in with the crowd and make a quick escape.

Ocasio-Cortez said she stayed in Porter’s office for about five hours and then sheltered with Rep. Ayanna Pressley until about 4 a.m.

She said she refrained from tweeting during the day. “I wasn’t safe. I did not feel safe, and I wasn’t going to lie,” she explained.

This would be quasi-believable if she was actually in the Capitol that day. Apparently she was in her office in the House office building which is not on the Capitol grounds and was not breached. Why would she lie about something that can easily be verified?

Many of the constituents in the districts she represents don’t feel safe on a daily basis. They are victims of gang violence, drug dealers, and violent felons who can shoot them with impunity.

Nice try to deflect from the truth. What is the truth?

A riotous mob, incited by Trump, led a coup attempt on the government of the United States.

They beat police offers with everything from fire extinguishers to the American flag. A police officer died.

Your nonsensical statement that we “don’t feel safe on a daily basis” is a lame attempt to change the subject. The fact is that this disgraceful attempt to stop our government from functioning demands nothing less that the conviction of Trump, the liar and inciter!

Really? A coup attempt? Really? Have you ever seen REAL coup attempts? Overzealous rioters? sure. A bunch of brainless idiots ? More like it. A coup de etat? How exactly would that have happened? Would Trump have seized control of the government after a bunch of idiots stormed the capitol? What a joke you people are. Go back to your safe space. You and AOC. How can anyone believe what she says anymore?

A “coup attempt” ? Is that what it was? Hmmm …. need to brush up on your history, see what coup attempts really look like … you know, like the one in Myanmar a few days ago …. “a riotous mob incited by Trump” ? What a joke. See, anyone can use quotes like you. They were a handful of people. A small group of morons. You snowflakes are ridiculous, but it’s ok, you got what you asked for … apparently Trump was the reason for all your ills and problems … let’s see what happens now that you don’t have him to blame. Who will you snowflakes turn on next? Probably on each other, bunch of cannibals that you are.

Like the mixologist speaks “truth” how delusional can you be???? She is a fraud-but your blind allegiance to some political fantasy clouds your critical thinking. Please take a walk around the areas she “represents” ask them how they feel with her leadership. You won’t because it is easier to blather on about Trump, his followers, and anything else that makes you popular on zoom get togethers.

I no longer blindly believe every accusation as itbis becoming a tool of attack that can never be challenged, or proven. I say so…so it is. Nope. Done with this bandwagon.
