Astoria’s annual summer movie series kicks off next week, bringing everything from classic musicals to Marvel superheroes to the waterfront.
Starting July 22, a total of five movies will be screened on the Astoria Park Great Lawn each Monday until August 19. Each screening will start at 8:15 p.m. and run for approximately two hours.
Kicking off the series on July 22 will be the 1952 classic musical “Singin’ in the Rain,” starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds. Following that on July 29 will be the 90s teen romantic-comedy “Clueless” starring Alicia Silverstone.
August will feature two family-friendly screenings in the form of Oscar-winning “Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse” and “Incredibles 2” on August 5 and August 12, respectively.
The 1972 classic “The Godfather” will close out the series on August 19.
The event is presented by the Central Astoria Local Development Coalition and it coincides with a weekly music series that began in early July.
These free concerts take place on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.
Lost Soul Found, a motown and R&B group, was scheduled to perform tonight but will be rescheduled due to weather conditions, Central Astoria LDC Tweeted.
The tribute band BonJourney will perform on July 25th. The Jersey Jukebox will perform doo woop and D.B. Rielly & Band will play country on August 1st and 8th, respectively.
The music series ends with The New York Bee Gees on August 15th.

I hope they are planning in cutting the grass !!!
If you plan on going and leaving your place unattended make sure you lock all your windows and doors. A lot of home robberies are taking place in addition to assaults. My friend was robbed and she is devastated. She cant wait to move.
