83-year-old man robbed at knife point inside Astoria apartment building, police say

Two men robbed an 83-year-old man at knife point Saturday inside the elevator of his Astoria apartment building, according to police.

The suspects entered the lobby of the senior citizen’s building–located in the vicinity of 21st Street and 36th Avenue (Ravenswood Houses)– at around 6:45 pm and followed him into the elevator. As the door closed, one of the suspects pulled out a knife and said “don’t make a noise’” as the second man took the victim’s cell phone and $20, according to police.

The suspects then fled. The victim was not injured.

The first suspect is described as black, with a dark complexion and bald. He was last seen wearing black sneakers, black jeans dark hooded shirt.

The second man is described as Hispanic with a light complexion. He was last seen wearing a grey hooded jacket, skull cap, black backpack, black sneakers and blue jeans.

Trash IS trash. But, people are desperate these days. They’ll even mug someone with a large bag of empty bottles worth the same value of a purse…

Very sad news!! How about the one the thugs entered the bodega in Brooklyn and beat up the older man for his cell phone! I know one thing. I ain’t gonna be living here in my retirement. I’d rather be an old folks home in Florida!

Just to know that they were right in front of me and god knows what wouldve happened..this is horrible iam glad the building has survelience …i pray they get caught and iam pretty sure they live close by…COWARDS..how can you live with youselves knowing you did this heartless

Wonderful members of society, preying on the old.

Pictures are better than average, hopefully the pictures will be distributed widely and these cowards can be apprehended.

If they live in public housing, they and their families should be tossed out upon conviction.

For the second time in four months, FDNY fire inspectors averted a potential catastrophe in East Elmhurst after finding stockpiles of illegally stored propane tanks in the residential neighborhood.

The number of grand larcenies across Queens was down during the 28-day period from March 18 to April 14, compared to the same period of time last year, according to the latest crime stats released by the NYPD Monday.
