Jan. 14, 2015 Staff Report

Yogurt La Crepe, which opened last year at 29-02 Ditmars Blvd, has been closed—temporarily– by the Health Department.
The eatery, which serves frozen yogurt and crepes, will not be able to reopen until it addresses a list the following violations.

1) Food Protection Certificate not held by supervisor of food operations.
2) Raw, cooked or prepared food is adulterated, contaminated, cross-contaminated, or not discarded in accordance with HACCP plan.
3) Evidence of mice or live mice present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas.
4) Facility not vermin proof. Harborage or conditions conducive to attracting vermin to the premises and/or allowing vermin to exist.

Yogurt La Crepe reopened after being closed for two days, indicating that the issues were minor and easily remedied.

Astoria post is not a reputable news organization and it has zero investigative integrity. They must get alerts from the New York City Health Department website that alerts them to the area they cover. With no due diligence they write stories that no reporter claims.

Yogurt la crepe is right when they say we should be supporting our local small businesses. I have been a customer since they opened, I was there yesterday and I will be there today. It is one of the cleanest operations on Ditmars.

As customers we must be aware Health Inspectors have a quota to fill to make the city money and the very truth of the matter is you can judge the cleanliness of an enrire establishment only by looking at the cleanliness of the restroom.

The theory is “if the restroom is clean and the entire store is clean if they’re going to leave the restroom dirty than the entire store must be dirty!”

Astoria post should do some homework in the future this way they’re not always writing about business openings and closings!

Re: Yogurt La Crepe shut down–temporarily– by Health Department.
In response to the recent post about Yogurt La Crêpe getting temporarily “shut down” due to violations…..
On January 12th, Yogurt La Crêpe was visited by the NYC Health Department Inspector Unannounced and what they found was:
1) Food Production Licensee – Not On Premises at Time of Visit.
2) In a Non-Food Hall Adjacent to the Section the Basement Found Holes in Wall and Alleged Droppings. – There in fact were small holes in the wall (from previous construction) that the HD felt vermin could enter from. This same Area (unchanged) Passed Inspection for Our Opening Six Months Prior.
On January 14, At the Satisfaction of NYC Health Department We Were Allowed to Re-Opened Our Store! Health Code Fines and All Charges to be Disputed in Court, Small Dry Wall Patch Work was Completed, and Exterminator Deemed Store Clean of Any Vermin.
Anyone who has ever been to Yogurt La Crêpe will tell you the we have the highest standard of excellent in Food Quality, Service, and Cleanliness!
Sometimes things aren’t as they appear, Sometimes it could be a person having a bad day or abusing the power they hold, Sometimes it could be just be about Generating Revenue for the City …. Sometimes Supporting Small Business Would be Nice!

So first off, this post should be taken down for inaccuracy due to the fact that our store was spotless. NO vermin was present nor have any of us seen any ( yes, I work there ). Our food is not contaminated we prepare the foods very well and make sure there is no mix up at ALL. We do have a license but the person with the certificate stepped out for a minute! And the inspector still decided to write us up considering he was very rude and unprofessional. I would appreciate if everyone reading this would disregard this post and understand that we as workers, clean up very well and are very careful with our store. Thank you.

Op-ed | Neighborhood rezoning: A better path for Astoria

Feb. 4, 2025 By Richard Khuzami

In the ever-evolving landscape of New York City, the need for thoughtful urban planning has never been more critical. As we look to the future, it’s clear that neighborhood rezoning offers a more comprehensive and beneficial approach compared to individual rezoning requests for specific projects. Locally, in Community District 1 in Queens, OANA has been advocating for such a rezoning of the general area south of Broadway in Astoria to Dutch Kills.
