Woman dies after jumping onto the Grand Central Parkway

A woman was killed by a motorist after jumping from the elevated Astoria Blvd train station onto the Grand Central Parkway last night.

The woman, according to police, jumped from the Astoria Blvd station at 31st Street, onto the eastbound Grand Central Parkway, near exit 5, according to police.

A vehicle traveling Eastbound on the highway then struck her. The car did not remain at the scene, the NYPD said.

The woman suffered severe trauma to the body, police said.

Police responded to the incident last night at 10:48 pm. EMS also responded and pronounced the woman deceased at the scene.

Police have not yet released the identity of the deceased. An investigation is ongoing.
