Six Apartments Available in Two Astoria Apartment Buildings Through Affordable Housing Lottery

Six apartments in two newly-constructed buildings in Astoria are up for grabs through the city’s affordable housing lottery.

All six units are available to households that make 130 percent of the area median income.

Three one-bedroom units are open in a building at 23-71 31st St. through the lottery and cost $2,188 a month to rent.

The units are open to households of one to three people who make between $75,018 and $133,120 combined a year. The full income requirements for the lottery are below.

Tenants are responsible for electricity costs, in addition to rent.

The building offers a shared outdoor space and washer and dryers in each unit.

The N and W trains are nearby, as well as the Q19, Q69 and M60 buses.

The deadline to apply for the lottery is July 21.

Three one-bedroom units are also up for grabs through the lottery at 26-26 18th St. Two of the units cost $1,775 in monthly rent, while one costs $1,900 in monthly rent.

The less expensive apartments are available to households of one to three people who make between $60,858 and $133,120 combined annually. The more expensive unit is available to households of one to three people who make between $65,143 and $133,120 combined annually.

Tenants are responsible for gas and electricity costs.

The building features a coin-operated laundry room. It is near the N train and the Q69 and Q19 buses.

The deadline to apply for the lottery is July 20.

Those eligible can apply to the both housing lotteries online here.

Each building owner will receive a tax exemption as a result of participating in the affordable housing lottery.

Keep building these hideous looking units that nobody wants or can afford LOL Thanks for the past 10 years of over crowding the neighborhood is ruined.

Again, how is this ‘affordable housing’ when the minimum income required is $75,000? Who comes up with these rules/guidelines and deems them affordable? Especially with the current state of the national and our local economy? Can’t you do a story on that?

People… Rich & Young Millenials ARE LEAVING the city in DROVES!!! On Youtube their vlogging about it! THEY ARE NOT COMING BACK!!! Our Governor & Mayor can’t seem to see eye to eye on issues IMPORTANT to citizens. THREATENING to CLOSE the state AGAIN & are broke soo bye bye free $$$ each weak. If the rich HAD stayed they our “glorious”?Governor & Mayor? we’re about to TAX them…(shh ONLY thing that could agree on, but didn’t want the RICH to find out it was hunting season on the other ones left with funds…)
Oh…Yes AND we are DEFUNDING the COPS, soo CRIME…ie SHOOTINGS?, Vanalism, Robberies, Knife/sword slashings? are …drum roll por a vore???(drugs…) UP!⬆

For the “SAVINGS” of your lottery they with their techie kids are moving PREMANTLY to rural areas!????? On youtube and News stations globally economists say because normal jobs as when we’re ALLOWED to go in person to WORK! Are no more…since EVERYONE is using a PC to “work” why pay $$$$???? when you CAN socially distance safely on your own estate for less of what you pay to shell out for a high priced matchbox pertending to be a living space!
Even the Real Deal admitted that their is 50% more Vacancies in NY areas! And regualar landlords are making concessions to lower their prices! No ? Lottiery needed!
Face it the ONLY ones who can pay something are the poor who can’t afford to move! And We don’t make $60,853 minamum. If anyone gets their jobs back and are allowed to work the minamum wage is $15. If the greedy bosses let them get even that!

So redo your math! CAUSE your WAY -OFF- COURSE!!! In what is “AFFORDABLE” in the NEW NORMAL…that you created!
