Shop Local at Astoria Market This Weekend

(Queens Tourism Council/ Astoria Market)

Nov. 29, 2019 By Allie Griffin

A holiday market is opening this weekend in Astoria offering the public three Sundays to get their holiday shopping done, all while supporting local small businesses.

The market, dubbed Astoria Market, will offer a selection of products from several dozen vendors from noon to 6 p.m. on three consecutive Sundays — Dec. 1, Dec. 8 and Dec 15 at the Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden, located at 29-19 24th Ave.

Local vendors will peddle a wide array of handmade art, body care products, chocolate, clothing, handbags, hats, jewelry, pottery, scarves, stationary, and toys.

The selection will vary, but four vendors have confirmed their presence on all three Sundays: Framiati (soap, lip balm, oils), Hellgate Farm (urban gardens), Jewels of Buddha, Julia Hut Shop (stickers, zippered pouches, pins), and Strung Out Jewelry.

There will be some vintage items also available.

In line with the small batch and local themes, Bohemian Hall will offer its Grandma’s Kitchen menu, which features homemade soups, platters, and apple strudel. And to get into the spirit of the season, the menu will include egg nog, hot apple cider, and roasted chestnuts.

And although he’s very busy in December, Santa Claus has promised to pop in. He’ll do his regular shtick with some “ho, ho, ho” chants, request lists, and gift-giving.

Attendance to the market is free and more information can be found on its event page.
