Scandals, the gritty strip club that was located in the Queens Plaza district, has closed.

The club shut its doors at its 24-03 Queen Plaza North location about 3 weeks ago, according to adjacent tenants and nearby residents. The well-known jiggle-joint had been at that location since 2002.

Scandals stood out from other strip clubs since it was highly visible from the elevated 7-train platform as well as for Manhattan-bound motorists who were about to drive over the Queensboro bridge.

The club’s closure is just part of the ongoing transformation of the Queens Plaza district, which has gone from a beaten-up wasteland to a high-end residential playground.

The strip club was located across the street from where the QLIC development is going up. That building is a 21-story, 421-unit rental tower that is expected to open in the next few months.

Pasha Royzman, who works at Intelligent Foods next door to the strip club, said Scandals’ closure is good for the neighborhood. “With all the apartments around here, it no longer belongs here anymore.”

One nearby resident said that she saw Scandal’s moving out some of its furniture. “I saw their purple seats—which were really gross,” the woman said. However she liked having the club nearby since she felt reassured walking in the area because of all the security guards.

Meanwhile, Monica Palacios, who works nearby at the Ecuadorian Consululate, said that that the club’s patrons used to take up a lot of parking spaces in the area. She said that with the strip club closed it has been easier to get a spot.

One construction worker, who was working on the QLIC development, had heard that Scandals had relocated. However, this could not be confirmed. The club’s voicemail was full, and on Google, Facebook and Yelp the existing Queens Blvd address was still listed.

Oh well more call girls in the area coming in since more people with big wallets are moving in. This club was the least of the areas problems.
