A local nonprofit and a cultural center are joining forces to host an online film premiere tonight as part of a fundraiser for food distribution.

Queens Together, a nonprofit representing restaurants and food businesses throughout the borough, and the Museum of the Moving Image are screening the premiere of Devin Klos’ short film “Queens Together at the Eternal Flame” (2021) at 7 p.m.

The film features local restaurant owners as they gather at Socrates Sculpture Park in a celebration of food and art. The celebration is centered around artist Paul Ramírez Jonas’s Eternal Flame, a monument in the form of a communal grill in Socrates Sculpture Park.

The online premiere will be hosted by Claudia Sanchez, the editor and publisher of the now defunct Edible Queens publication, and will feature special guests. It will be streamed both on Queens Together’s Youtube and Facebook.

The event will kickoff a fundraiser organized by Queens Together on behalf of Zone126, a local nonprofit that fights food insecurity in Astoria and Long Island City. Queens Together is accepting donations via its website.

The funds raised will go toward food distribution efforts.
