July 5, 2016 Staff Report

Police are searching for a suspect who swiped a laptop out of a Ravenswood apartment lobby last month.

A 59-year-old female left her laptop on a window ledge inside the lobby of 35-03 12th St. on June 24 at 12:20 p.m. The suspect grabbed the laptop and walked into the building, according to police.

Police describe the suspect as a male, black, 40 to 50 years old, 5’8” tall and 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, dark colored pants, black sneakers, a black du-rag and a black backpack.

Police have released a surveillance video and photo of the suspect and are asking anyone with any information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

Deputy Inspector Peter Fortune, commanding officer of the 114 Precinct, said last week that grand larcenies, particularly those involving unattended property, have been driving the crime rate in the neighborhood.

Grand Larceny is up to 70 incidents during the 28-day period ending on June 26, compared to 48 during the same period last year.
