Police Search for Church Thief

Police are looking for a man wanted in connection with the burglary of a Greek Orthodox church in Astoria.

Just after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, the suspect entered Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 30-11 30 Drive in Astoria and removed jewelry and about $5,000 cash before fleeing.

Police have released surveillance images of the suspect. They are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS.

It shouldn’t be too hard to find a green man. He looks like the ‘urban ghetto squad’ of green army men.
