Police looking for man who allegedly mugged 14-year-old in Astoria

Police are searching for a man who allegedly mugged a 14-year-old boy last month near Astoria Boulevard and 44th Street.

The suspect allegedly came up behind the victim at 7:50 am on Tuesday, July 26, and punched him in the face and demanded his property. The victim complied, handing over $7 and his iPhone 4. The suspect then fled east on 44th Street, according to police.

The victim described the suspect as a 5-foot-6 white male with a beard, weighing about 150 pounds and between the ages of 20 and 25. He was last seen wearing a dark colored shirt, white pants and black sneakers.

Police have released a photo and video of the suspect, and anyone with information in regards to the incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
