A modern fitness studio is set to open at a high-rise office building in Long Island City.

Performance Lab, which will offer seven different types of fitness classes, will open on Oct. 1 inside The JACX – a 26-story two-tower development located at 28-17 42nd Rd. by Queens Plaza South.

The facility will primarily consist of two large fitness studios. The studios will be located in the cellar, with the entranceway on the ground floor. The entire facility totals around 8,600 square feet.

The Performance Lab will be operated by The Wright Fit, a New York-based company that designs training studios, and Tishman Speyer, the real estate development company that owns The JACX.

The facility will be different than a conventional health club. The operators will focus solely on group fitness classes and personal training sessions.

The company plans to hold 40 group classes at the location each week with classes lasting around 50 minutes, manager Cliff Robertson told the Queens Post.

The two large studios will be used for different purposes. Studio 1 will focus on high-energy training while Studio 2 will focus on body movement and mindfulness, Robertson said.

There will be three different types of classes on offer at Studio 1. Strength Rx classes will consist of strength and conditioning exercises while Cardio Rx classes will place an emphasis on high-intensity training and power movements. There will also be Strike classes that mix boxing with strength and conditioning drills, Robertson said.

Meanwhile, four separate types of classes will be available in Studio 2. These include We Flow classes that are designed for all levels of yoga enthusiasts, and Power Flow classes that are a more advanced form of yoga.

In addition, there will be CoreCon and Breath Rx classes. CoreCon classes will target abs, hips and the lower back area while Breath Rx classes focus on breathing techniques, mobility and meditation.

The facility will be in operation from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

At Studio 1, you’ll be able to choose from three different kinds of lessons. Cardio Rx courses will emphasise high-intensity training and power movements, while Strength Rx programmes will focus on strength and conditioning routines.

The New York City Council passed a landmark bill on Wednesday, aiming to relieve renters of paying hefty broker fees — a cost that will now fall on the party who hires the listing agent. Known as the FARE Act (Fairness in Apartment Rentals), the legislation passed with a veto-proof majority of 42-8, despite opposition from Republicans and conservative Democrats.
