A new dessert bar is coming to a high-rise office building in Long Island City later this year.

Spot Dessert Bar, which offers desserts such as ice cream, cookies and cakes– in an array of global flavors, will open in November or December at The JACX – a 26-story two-tower building located at 28-07 Jackson Ave.

The popular dessert bar will occupy a 1,200-foot space on the ground floor of the structure that is situated on the corner of Queens Plaza South and Jackson Avenue. The space is adjacent to the grocery store City Acres Market.

It will be Spot Desserts’ third location following on from its flagship bar in St.Mark’s Place — which was established in 2009 — and its Flushing location on Prince Street.

Spot Dessert is owned by the hospitality group Chace, which operates two Asian restaurants called OBAO as well as Dumpling N’ Dips, which specializes in dumplings. The three eateries are located in Manhattan.

Andy Gwon, a managing partner and general manager at Spot Dessert Bar, said the group has been eager to open in Long Island City for some time.

“Long Island City is booming right now and we always wanted to open a location in the area. We are super excited,” Gwon said.

“This location kind of called out to us since some of our partners have lived in the neighborhood…. and we feel now is the right time to open.”

Spot Desserts Bar offers a wide range of desserts with both Asian and Western influences, Gwon said.

The dessert bar will offer cookies with flavors including Nutella, Oreo chocolate chip and Matcha Lava, as well as various scooped ice creams and sundaes.

Gwon said Spot Desserts’ signature items include the Matcha Lava Cake — which is made with dark chocolate and matcha ganache served with matcha green tea ice cream — and the Golden Toast which consists of a crispy honey buttered toast served with strawberries and condensed milk ice cream.

Another customer favorite, Gwon said, is The Harvest, which is served in a replica plant pot. The pot is filled with layers of berries, soft cheesecake, and Oreo crumbs served with earl grey milk tea and raspberry sorbet.

Spot Desserts also offers a range of bubble teas along with hot and cold coffees. Gwon said they plan to offer wine and beer and have applied for a license.

The new establishment will seat approximately 30 indoors with a goal of having additional outdoor seating in the future.

“Our concept is for people to dine in, enjoy the experience, and feel like they are getting flavors from different parts of the world,” Gwon said.

Opening hours will be from 7 a.m. to midnight Mondays through Thursdays, from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturdays and from 9 a.m. to midnight on Sundays.
