Kaufman Astoria Studios will be offering a behind-the-scenes look at the movie making business

New York on LocationAug. 19, 2014 By Michael Florio

The public will have the opportunity to go behind the scenes and see how films and TV shows are made at Kaufman Astoria Studios for one day next month.

Kaufman Astoria Studios, along with the Museum of Moving Image and Theatrical Teamsters Local 817, will present “New York on Location” on September 21—that will provide an inside look into the movie-making business.

The event will provide attendees with access to more than 20 working movie trailers and trucks that are being used for productions being shot in New York.

The public will also have the opportunity to speak to movie professionals about what they do—and watch stunt people perform high falls and street fights. There will be access to dressing rooms, props, cameras, wardrobes and more.

Kaufman Astoria Studios is currently home to the production of Orange is the New Black, Sesame Street and Nurse Jackie.

The event will start at 11 am and run until 5 pm. The studio hosted New York on Location back in 2007 and this is the first one since.

Meanwhile, the Museum of Moving Image will also be hosting an exhibit called “Behind the Screen,” which provides a window into how films are made, marketed and shown. It will provide attendees with a look at the history of film making. That exhibit, which is currently on show, is ongoing.

Mr. Florio – Thanks very much for the article. This sounds like a lot of fun. But the article does not say how people can attend/get tickets. Do you have any information about that?

He additionally entered an Alford plea to one count of sexual abuse.
