Astoria will light up for the holidays this weekend with two Christmas tree lightings and a holiday market.
The 5th Annual Holiday Festival and Tree Lighting Celebration will take place on the Great Lawn in Astoria Park this Saturday, Dec. 2.
The event, hosted by the Central Astoria Local Development Coalition, will feature performances by the New York Holiday Choristers, Dave Cremins Out of This World Magic and Holiday Beat.
The event will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Free toy train rides will be available from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., although guests must be on line by 4 p.m. The Christmas tree will be lit at 5 p.m. Free popcorn will be available while supplies last.
The Great Lawn is located near 19th Street and 23rd Avenue.
The annual Bohemian Beer Hall tree lighting ceremony will take place in the beer garden on Friday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served.
The Beer Hall will also host a holiday market in its main hall on Dec. 3, 10 and 17 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Vendors will offer accessories, art, baked goods, clothing, toys, jewelry and other items. Admission to the market is free.
The Hall is located at 29-19 24th Ave. Children are welcome at both events.
