Halloween children’s party scheduled for Astoria Park Sunday

Oct. 27, 2017 By Tara Law

A children’s Halloween party is scheduled to take place in Astoria Park this Sunday.

The Central Astoria Local Development Coalition, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting Astoria’s businesses and community, will throw its 2nd annual ‘Batty Over Halloween’ party this Sunday from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m on the Great Lawn at Astoria Park.

The event is open to the public and costumes are encouraged.

Activities include face painting, a selfie posing station and balloon art. Attendees will receive mini pumpkins and cotton candy.

The event will feature two Halloween themed musical performances by children’s educational and entertainment groups FunikiJam World Music and Fiddle Foxes, and an interactive puppet show by WonderSpark Puppets.

Central Astoria decided to put on the event for the second year running after hearing feedback from parents who said their children enjoyed it last year, according to Roxy Tico, the program manager.

“It’s a way to bring together the whole kaleidoscope of the community, and for all the children to come together with their friends and family,” Tico said.
