A 54-year-old man was head-butted and beaten with his own hockey stick after he tried to stop an assault taking place inside of the Court Square station Tuesday.
The incident took place on the northbound E train platform at around 5:30 p.m. when another man was being punched by a male suspect, police said.
The Good Samaritan came to the victim’s assistance before the suspect turned around and headbutted him, according to police.
The suspect then grabbed a hockey stick the Good Samaritan was carrying and struck him on the back of the neck with it, police said.
The assailant then fled the station on foot to parts unknown.
The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Mount Sinai Hospital-Queens, police said.
Police released an image of the man wanted for questioning.
The suspect is described as being around 30-years-old, bald, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a gray polo shirt, tan pants, black and white shoes and a gray backpack.
