New York City’s largest urgent care chain CityMD is offering free COVID-19 diagnostic testing to uninsured New Yorkers, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Sunday.
Every New Yorker can now get tested for COVID-19 at any CityMD location at no out-of-pocket cost. Those with insurance will not have to make a copay.
“If you don’t have insurance, CityMD will cover the cost and I want to thank them for that,” de Blasio said from City Hall Sunday. “That’s an extraordinary commitment to the people of this city.”
All 123 CityMD sites are offering nasal swab tests seven days a week, with no appointment necessary. Patients receive their test results in three to five days.
The urgent care company’s partnership with the City means that New York City has reached its goal of testing 20,000 New Yorkers per day ahead of time.
“This is consistent with our commitment from day one, whether it’s testing or health care, whatever the people of New York City need, we will get it for them regardless of your ability to pay,” de Blasio said.
CityMD is offering COVID-19 antibody testing with no copay as well, according to its website.
New York State is also partnering with CVS to offer diagnostic testing at 60 CVS pharmacies across the state. The 60 locations have not yet been revealed.
New Yorkers can visit https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/find-test-site-near-you and enter their address to find a testing facility near them.
