Burglars tried to drill into a Capital One bank on 31st Street through the roof early Monday morning, according to police.

The bank is located at 22-04 31st Street and sits under a nail salon. Both were roped off with police tape following the attempted theft.

According to the NYPD, a neighbor called 911 at 2:30 a.m. after hearing drilling and metal cutting noises outside.

Responding officers found a hole had been cut into the roof of the bank and into the vault. They also found tools left at the scene.

The burglars did not gain access to the vault and police did not find evidence of anything stolen.

A police helicopter was dispatched in search of the perpetrators but found no one. The investigation is ongoing.
