Baby in stroller fatally struck by van in East Elmhurst

An 8-month-old baby in a stroller was fatally hit by a van in Queens Friday morning, according to police.

The van was backing out of a driveway when it struck the stroller at Astoria Boulevard and 93rd Street in East Elmhurst around 10:20 a.m., police said.

The child was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital. There were no other injuries, they said.

The driver remained at the scene and was taken into custody, cops said.
