The Michelin Guide released its 2016 “Bib Gourmand” picks last week, including three local restaurants.

For the Bib Gourmand, restaurants are evaluated for excellence on a budget (defined as two courses and wine or dessert for $40 a head).

Basic Brick Oven Pizza, HinoMaru Ramen and Gregory’s 26 Corner Taverna received the prize.

This year’s Bib Gourmand included 27 new winners, many of which are located in Queens and Brooklyn.

“Queens is a must for diners wanting to experience a wide variety of the world’s different cuisines” Michael Ellis, International Director of the Michelin Guide, said. “This year’s selection put a light on just how exciting and dynamic New York City’s dining scene is today.”

Gregory’s 26 Corner Taverna (casual Greek dining) was one of these newcomers. Both Basil and HinoMaru have won multiple times.
