The new Time Warner Cable store located at the former Lefkos Pyrgos bakery will host a grand opening on Thursday, according to a spokesperson.

The Time Warner Cable retail store sits at 31-01 23rd Ave. It absorbed a nearly 4,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by Lefkos Pyrgos as well as the Blooming Company, Lucky 7 Internet Café and Astron Gift Shop.

Lefkos Pyrgos, a Greek café and bakery, sat at 23rd Avenue and 31st Street for nearly 40 years. Owners have since relocated to 33-02 Ditmars Blvd.

The Astoria location is Time Warner Cable’s second store in Queens; another opened in Flushing in August, according to a press release from the time. The grand opening follows a soft-open period that started in early October, spokesperson Ziggy Chau said.

Thursday’s event will also feature an announcement regarding Time Warner Cable’s partnership with the Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens to open a “TWC Learning Lab” – a computer and technology center – at the club, 21-12 30th Rd., Chau said.

The grand opening is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

I plan on getting there sometime between the afternoon hours of 3 to 5; then again I may not show up at all, and send a bill for a crappy time, anyway.

Foot traffic, car traffic and parking is even worse in that area now! I can imagine what that area will be like when the Medical Building opens up!
