A new Mediterranean Foods location will open at the former Sunnyside Prints building next month, according to the owner.
Mediterranean Foods is an imported foods market, selling items including Greek cheese, teas, herbs and spices, and soaps. There are currently two stores, with one at 30-12 34th Street, and the other at 23-18 31st Street (called Mediterranean Foods II), in Agora Plaza.
The new market is located at 22-78 35th Street, and is expected to open after Labor Day.
According to manager Tommy Tentolouris, the lease for the Agora Plaza location will end in about a year and half, at which point that market will close. All three locations will be open until that point.
Tentolouris said the new site is appealing because it is “three times bigger” than Mediterranean Foods II.
Tentolouris’ father, owner Bill Tentolouris, said that the 35th Street market will offer some new Greek imports, including marmalades, candies and organic olives and olive oils.
Foods made on site will include cheese pies, spinach pies and baklava.
Bill Tentolouris also said he intends to serve espresso drinks and Greek coffee in a small outdoor seating area beside the market.

I wonder if the illegal parking situation on that block will resolve when this store opens or get worse. So many cars park on the sidewalk on that block and it is very unsafe for pedestrians. There is a private parking lot across the street which is a mess. The train overpass is full of pigeons, droppings and debris. When it rains it stinks. Happy shopping folks!
What a terrible location.. Have fun getting your produce SHIT on by all the pigeons..
You sound like you have a pretty miserable life.
Hey wait a sec, where will the Hipsters and Clueless Transplants shop? Not fair!
There are a lot of young Greek hipsters FYI
