After sitting papered up for months, a new meatball restaurant on 34th Avenue appears to be working toward an opening.
Called Mighty Balls, the restaurant will offer a brick-and-mortar site for the meatball vendors, who according to their website have been serving specialty meatballs and sauces at markets and street fairs since 2011.
The Mighty Balls website says the Astoria location – at 35-11 34th Avenue, across from Kaufman Astoria Studios – will come “soon.”
After sitting under orange Mighty Balls signage and papered windows for months, tables and chairs, decorative pots and pans and a large menu are now visible inside. An unfinished window painting promises beef, pork, and veggie meatballs.
A full menu is available at Mighty Ball’s website here.
Offerings include a turkey meatball and cranberry horseradish “Giving Thanks” dish and a “Spicy Italian” with beef meatballs, tomato and mozzarella.
The Mighty Balls team did not respond to requests for comment as of press time.

What I wouldn’t give to put some of those hot, wet balls in my mouth
Mighty Balls?
Well, it takes balls to choose a name like that.
