A man was fatally shot inside the Astoria Houses NYCHA complex early Friday.

The victim, 34, was shot once in the chest at 2-10 27th Ave. at around 1:15 a.m., police said.

Police responded to a 911 call and discovered him in a hallway on the third floor of the building with a gunshot wound.

He was transported by EMS to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The victim’s name has not been released, pending family notification.

Police, however, did say that the victim had 25 prior arrests, including an arrest for assaulting a police officer in 2013.

The New York Daily News reported that the victim was a member of a gang called the “Dream Team.” However, a police spokesperson was unable to confirm this.

There have been no arrests in relation to last night’s shooting and the investigation remains ongoing. The police spokesperson had no other information on the incident at press time.

The shooting comes as murders within the 114th Precinct, which covers Astoria and Roosevelt Island, are on the rise. There were 10 murders in 2021 compared to seven in 2020 and two in 2019, according to NYPD data.

Mayor Eric Adams is deploying plainclothes police units throughout the city this month – including in the 114th Precinct — to crack down on illegal guns and major crimes.

She doesn’t want you to remember she moved to Astoria just to run for office. Her address is still Richmond Hill online. Also, Astoria Post used to be good before it became yellow journalism &
started censoring us.
