5-month-old Astoria girl pronounced dead, police are investigating

The police are investigating the death of an Astoria infant who was pronounced dead on arrival at Mount Sinai Queens hospital this morning.

The police were called to the home of Malak Aitouhanni, a 5-month-old girl, at 28-41 34th Street at 3:20am this morning.

When the police arrived, Aitouhanni had already been taken to the hospital, where she was declared dead.

There were no obvious signs of trauma, police said. The Medical Examiner will be determining the cause of death.

The investigation remains ongoing.
