28-Year-Old Woman Found Dead Inside Astoria Apartment: NYPD

A 28-year-old woman was found dead inside an Astoria apartment building on Thursday, according to police.

The woman was discovered inside a second floor apartment near Steinway Street and 25th Avenue, according to an NYPD spokesperson. The woman was found in a bedroom at around 1:30 p.m. by first responders after a 911 call reporting a foul odor.

The NYPD has classified her death as suspicious, although there was no sign of a break-in. The case is currently under investigation.

A medical examiner will conduct an autopsy today, the NYPD spokesperson said.

The identity of the victim is pending release upon family notification.
