A new eatery, to be called Yogurt La Crepe, is expected to open on Ditmars this May.

The store will be located at 29-02 Ditmars Blvd and will serve organic, gluten free, dairy free and regular frozen yogurt in addition to sweet and savory crepes.

Salvatore Fragale, the owner, selected the location since the area has a “family feel to it” and his new space is across the street from a church.

“The area gets a lot of [pedestrian] traffic and there are a lot of families,” he said. “This is a family run business and we look to attract that.”

This will be the second yogurt store Fragale will open; the first is located in Tarrytown, Westchester County.

Fragale said the menu will be similar to the Tarrytown shop, where he will offer a range of crepes, such as grilled chicken, smoked salmon and roasted turkey.

However, the Ditmars eatery will include some additional items tailor-made for this community.

Fragale said he plans to offer a Greek salad in a crepe bowl, a chicken & pasta bowl, and a more expansive espresso menu that would include Greek coffee and frappe.

“We want to accommodate the Greek community in the area,” Fragale said.

Construction began last week and if all goes well the establishment might open by the end of May. The 1,000 square foot eatery will seat about 24 people. In addition, Fragale hopes to get an outdoor café permit that would allow him to add another 20 seats.

Fragale said that while there might be other frozen yogurt shops in the area, none offer crepes like his.
