Body found on rocky shoreline near Astoria Park

A woman’s body was discovered Saturday on the shore near Astoria Park, according to police.

Police said that a passerby found the woman’s badly decomposed remains around 11 am on the rocky shoreline in the area of Astoria Park South and Shore Boulevard.

The deceased woman’s identity has not been released.

The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office.

In the 70’s the Westies gang used to dump bodies from the sewage plant into the river across from Astoria Park.
