A longstanding Astoria donut shop has left the neighborhood.

Doral Donut Shop, which has operated at 31-16 Broadway since 1972, recently closed its doors for good. Signs have been posted in the shop’s window thanking customers for their years of support.

The shop was known for its breakfast and lunch menu, which included coffee, bagels, croissants, sandwiches and donuts.

It received positive reviews on Yelp, where it has 3.5 stars, as well as Facebook, where it has a 4.1 rating.

Several longtime customers were upset about the closure.

“The Doral Donut Shop was a place where you could sit at the counter and eat your breakfast with the rest of the locals,” one commenter wrote on the shop’s Facebook page. “It was opened in 1972 and was one of the last remaining stalwarts of Old Astoria on Broadway, a truly charming old school breakfast and lunch counter. I will miss it! “

He was not the only one upset by the closure.

“I went there every morning Mon.-Fri. for 13 years,” another Facebook commenter wrote. “There is no decent place for breakfast around here anymore.”

The business owner could not be reached for comment. Messages left for the property owner have not been answered as of this writing.

We Heart Astoria first reported on Doral’s closing.
