With school out, it’s now well and truly summer.

To mark the occasion, the Astoria Park Pool, along with all 55 outdoor public pools city wide, opened today, according to the Parks Department.

The pool is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., except for a break between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. for cleaning, seven days a week.

The pool will stay open through to September 11, one week later than the traditional Labor Day weekend closure.

The city allocated $1.7 million to keep 36 of the City’s intermediate and Olympic-sized pools, including the Astoria Park Pool, open an extra week.

“For the first time ever, we’re extending the outdoor pool season by one week so that New Yorkers have even more access to a cool pool when the temperatures are high,” said NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver.
