Kids Can Receive Free Ice Cream from Vending Truck Outside Pediatric Dentist Office Today

Astoria Smiles 01

June 27, 2016 Staff Report

School’s out for summer this week, and a local pediatric dentist wants to mark the occasion by offering free ice cream outside her office today.

Astoria Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, which opened its doors last fall, has rented an ice cream truck to serve cold treats to children who want to celebrate the end of the school year and the start of summer. The truck will be parked immediately outside their office at 30-44 29th St, between 30th Rd and 30th Dr, only steps away from P.S. 234.

Free ice cream will be handed out from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, or until supplies last, and be limited to one treat per child.

The cold snacks will reportedly come in a variety of flavors, and include bars that feature characters such as Spongebob Squarepants and Batman.

“We would like to congratulate the students on their hard work throughout the school year with this event,” said Dr Rashmi Ambewadikar, who opened the practice. “We aim to encourage children to maintain good oral hygiene habits by limiting sweets to special occasions such as this.”

The dental staff will also be providing free toothbrushes with each treat.

“As a reminder to brush after treats to prevent tooth decay, we will also be giving out toothbrushes and reminding parents to schedule routine check-up visits.”

Parents or educators that are interested in learning more about the event, or who would like to book a cleaning in advance, can call Astoria Smiles Pediatric Dentistry at (917) 832-7177, or visit their website for more information.
