Owners of Avenue Cafe to Open Ditmars Version in May

March 24, 2014 By Michael Florio

A new café/restaurant is opening on Ditmars Blvd that will be operated by the owners of Avenue Café on 30th Avenue.

The new cafe is expected to open before the beginning of summer. It will be located at 35-19 Ditmars Blvd and will focus on Mediterranean cuisine.

“We hope to open in May, but it depends on construction,” said Louis Loizou, a co-owner of this venture and Avenue Café.

The new cafe, which is about 2,000 square feet, will seat 75 people inside. Loizou said he has applied for a sidewalk café license that would allow him to seat an additional 60 people.

Loizou said that he has applied for a full liquor license and the establishment will have a full bar.

The new café—which has yet to be named—will be similar to Avenue Café.

“We have a few names [in mind]…and once we decide on one, we will put up signs,” he said.
