A man was seriously injured when he was struck by a livery cab while attempting to cross Steinway Street at 31st Avenue at 12:40 a.m. this morning.

The man, who is in his 20s, was left unconscious when EMS arrived on the scene and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, police said.

The pedestrian was struck while in the crosswalk– but was crossing against the light, the police said.

The livery cab driver stayed where the incident occurred. The police are investigating, although they don’t believe any criminality was involved.
