Three teenagers attacked a young man while shouting “Isis-Isis” in Astoria last week and local politicians want the community to help the police find the perpetrators.

One of the three suspects allegedly punched the 19-year-old victim in the face twice and called out “Arab.” As the victim pushed him away, he observed a second man with a pipe in his hand who was yelling “Isis-Isis” and a third man with a baseball bat in his hands, police said.

The three men allegedly attacked the victim on Wednesday, April 27, at 1:20 pm in front of 33-55 10th Street.

Councilmen Jimmy Van Bramer and Costa Constantinides will hold a press conference tomorrow to denounce what’s being viewed as a hate crime. The two will also be calling on the community to come forward with any information concerning the incident.

The press conference will be held Friday at 8:30 am at the intersection of 10th Street and 33rd Road.

The suspects still remain at large.

The suspect who punched the victim in the face is described as a white male, 17-19 years old, approximately 5’9″ tall and 180 lbs, according to police.

The suspect who had the pipe in his hands and was yelling Isis is described as a white-Hispanic, 17-19 years-old, approximately 5’6″ tall and 160 lbs.

The man who allegedly had a baseball bat is described as a black-Hispanic, 18-years-old, approximately 5’9″ tall, black hair and a beard.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
