Robber Draws Gun At Sussex Bank, But Flees With No Cash

Police are searching for a man who unsuccessfully attempted to rob an Astoria bank at gunpoint.

The suspect entered Sussex Bank, located at Astoria Boulevard and 29th Street., drew a gun and demanded cash from the teller, according to the NYPD.

The man did not receive any money and fled westbound on Astoria Boulevard and northbound on 27th Street, according to police.

The incident occurred on April 27 at 3:40 p.m.attempted bank robber sussex

The suspect is a male, black, approximately 25- to 35-years-old. He is about 180 pounds, and 5-feet-10-inches to 5-feet-11-inches. He was last seen wearing construction attire consisting of a hard hat, reflective vest, a dust mask, gloves and dark sunglasses, according to the NYPD.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

The teller should have thrown the money at him so fast that he lost an eye. This is an incredibly dangerous situation and the clerk mishandled it. He or she is lucky to be alive. NEVER argue with them. Instead, get the marked money into their hands and let them be arrested AWAY from your customers. I speak as a survivor of two such attempts.
