Lock your car and don’t leave valuables in it. Then you won’t attract thieves. Leaving the door unlocked was a pretty stupid thing to do.

Too bad this guy didn’t get hit by a speeding car on 21st Ave. after he stole the GPS. In which the car that hits him leaves the scene with this mutt paralyzed. Piece of garbage and waste of life walking the streets.

I truly believe I saw this guy on Steinway between 30 and 31 Avenue this afternoon. If he was the guy I would say he is taller, wearing a heavy winter jacket (light brownish/green khaki colored) with a hoodie. He stood out to me because despite the warm weather he was dressed for colder weather and happened to look up in order to get rid of the glare on his cellphone. Despite the run down clothes he has a good looking clean face which makes him stand out even more. I didn’t have my cellphone on me but did make a call when i got home.

I was wearing a heavy winter coat and a hat earlier this afternoon – I fear people like you will start calling 911 on me because I’m cold.

If someone resembles the suspect and fits the description people should call. That is what the number of Crime Stoppers is for. Do not be like the neighbor in California that did not want to call the authorities about what we now know were terrorists because they did not want to offend nobody. Calling my have saved all those people they shot to death.

Do basically clean face, coat too heavy and worn down jacket is suspicious to you. Ok no wonder the police don’t do anything when people call them

The person I called about definitely resembled the guy’s face in this photo/video. I am elaborating on my post because of some of the replies and personally, I do not want to deter people or the community from helping the proper authorities. My whole reason for describing what he was wearing was to explain why and how I noticed this person and that to mention now that I had just finished reading about this incident on this site and the person I saw according to his facial features (eyes, nose, bone structure, etc.) appeared to match the footage. I am not playing detective and/or was not on the prowl. It just so happened that he matched the footage.

This is the same guy who robbed my Gps from my unlocked car – straight from my driveway three weeks ago. I called cops & they could care less. We have cameras outside our house that caught it all. Cops didn’t ask to see the video & made it seem like there was no point in filing a report. Terrible! I hope this man is caught!

You know, I have called them on a few occasions. They have been unfailingly polite and pleasant, but they don’t actually do much. And they flat out refuse to do anything to curtail the drag racing/motorcycle racing on 20th Avenue.

Politicians aren’t going to stop this sort of crime. Time to get the baseball bat out and send this guy to Elmhurst Hospital with 2 busted knees.

got that right, stop ignoring suspicious looking people and don’t be afraid to confront them.

You must not have seen the post that said traffic lights and bike lanes stop crime…..

Good thing that Independent Candidate didn’t win, the one who had Public Safety as her priority. I forget her name, or this guy would probably have less opportunities to get the things he needs, right?… BTW George and Frank, you’re right to assume traffic lights & bike lanes prevent crime, apparently studies have shown this, why else would that be the priority?

George

There are barely any traffic lights on 21st avenue. And there are NO bike lines at all. Are you people starting to see the connection yet? I’m so glad we have Councilman Constantinides on our side.

If there was a traffic light at every intersection in Astoria this guy wouldn’t have gotten away ?. What street was this on?

We could use a couple on 20th Ave too. Way too much drag racing and loitering going on. Multiple complaints to various city authorities have gone ignore.

…but there IS a traffic light next to where this crime happened. SO….back to your ridiculous point?

What I’d like to see next: two rotweillers double team him. But then he’d probably walk away with more money than he started with…

Burglary crew sought for targeting drugstores in five different Queens precincts: NYPD

Police from five Queens precincts are looking for a pair of burglars who targeted independent mom-and-pop drugstores from Fresh Meadows to Astoria throughout December.
