The Butcher Bar is About to Get Bigger

March 10, 2014 Michael Florio

The Butcher Bar—half butcher shop/half restaurant—is about to expand.

The store, best known for its grass-fed/pastured meats, is going to be taking over the space next door to its 37-08 30th Ave location, according to a restaurant insider. The new space, located at 37-10 30th Avenue, is currently being renovated and is expected to open in about two months.

The Butcher Bar, which opened in December 2011, was founded by Matthew Katakis. The cozy store, with its wooden walls, offers a menu consisting of BBQ ribs, steak, chops, burgers, butcher platters and organic sides.

Katakis already owns two other restaurants on the block.

He owns Pita Pan at 37-15 30th Ave. across the street, as well as the recently-opened Marketa, located at 37-17 30th Avenue.

He co-owns Marketa with Nick Neocleous, who owns a sushi restaurant and bar called Central, at 20-30 Steinway Street.
