A new co-working office space for businesses and freelancers has opened in Astoria.
WeWork, which provides shared workspaces, opened their first location in Queens on March 1 at 35-37 36th St.
The location includes four floors with a terrace overlooking the Studio Square Beer Garden and a rooftop with skyline views.
The location has about 700 desks that can be rented. WeWork also offers offices for rent, conference room time and access to amenities such as internet, coffee, printing and lounges.
WeWork offers different plans for members starting at $45 a month. The starter package includes one day of workspace or one hour of conference room time each month. Each additional day for a workspace then costs $50, while additional hours of conference room time ranges from $25 to $75.
The next package, which offers a shared office desk, starts at $530 a month.
WeWork also offers private offices, which start at $650 per month.
The company is excited to be operating in Studio Square.

Assembly Member Aravella Simotas welcomed WeWork to western Queens, which she said is particularly accepting of small businesses.
“WeWork Studio Square will be a great addition to the historical creative community in the Kaufman Arts District and will help to fuel innovation for years to come,” she said.
This is WeWork’s 23rd location in New York City. The company has 63 locations around the world serving 45,000 members.

This is really going to be great for people who don’t want to commute to Manhattan everyday. When you get a bunch of people together who consider themselves entrepreneurs, some successful businesses might come out of it. Best of luck to weWork and their clients.
There is a similar but smaller place down the block and looking at their online availability they seem to be doing pretty well so there is definitely a demand for this type of space in south Astoria.
Great to see new businesses making investments and demonstrating their belief that Astoria is the place to be.
