A renovation project is underway at Hoyt Playground that will revamp exercise equipment and spray showers, among others.

Hoyt Playground is located on Hoyt Avenue North between 29th and 31st Streets. The $825,000 revamp was funded by the City Council and is expected to be complete in the fall, Parks Department spokesperson Meghan Lalor said.

The project involves reconstructing the adult fitness equipment, basketball courts and spray showers, according to Lalor.

Pavement and fencing will also be upgraded.

Access to the park will be restricted as construction moves forward.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience and look forward to reopening in the fall,” Lalor said.

use to take my daughter there after work, its a great small park, not everyone can go to astoria park… we would stop at the park on our way home, i would pick up some a bite to eat and we would eat dinner in the park while she played…. the park was in need of an upgrade, its been a long time since they last fixed it up.

In addition to the noise and traffic there are just too many exhaust fumes in this area. I stay away from it.

The playground across from Astoria Park on 21st Street is desperately in need of improvement too. Its so depressing. Please add something green to these areas.

This is a joke they have that in a astoria a park for the adults why have it in hoyt park ? Hoyt park is made for children to play in . That gives perverts and drug user to hang out .. There’s no place safe for children to play no more. ..

That’s what the spray showers, jungle gyms and swings are for, kids. The park however, is for folks of all ages.
