A woman fought off a man who tried to rape her on 30th Avenue Sunday morning, police said.

The victim was walking along 30th Avenue at 3:25 a.m. when a man approached her from behind, threw her to the ground and tried to rape her, police said.

The police did not provide the cross street where the incident occurred.

However, the 22-year-old female victim fought back, and the man ran off.

The woman suffered from a few cuts and scratches, the NYPD said.

The police released a surveillance photo of the suspect who had dark hair and was wearing a jacket with brightly colored shoulders and a darker-colored torso.

He is believed to be in his early 30s, about 5 feet 7 inches, and approximately 145 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
