Brother Crepe

Feb. 2, 2016 By Michael Florio

A new crepe shop recently opened its doors in Astoria.

Brother Crepe, located at 42-02 30th Ave., opened last week, according to a store employee.

“We have only been open a couple of days,” she said on Tuesday.

The eatery serves a variety of sweet and savory crepes. Sweet crepes include banana chocolate, fuji apple, mango raspberry and the house fruit cocktail, which includes strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, banana, mango, whipped cream, whipped yogurt, chocolate pearls and pistachios. Sweet crepes cost between $6.25 and $8.50.

Savory crepes include the Brother’s BLT, smoked salmon, chicken teriyaki and angus ribs. They run between $5.25 and $8.50.

The crepes are all served in a cone shape to make for on-the-go eating.

In addition to crepes the eatery has milk tea, flavored green tea, coffee, fresh fruit and veggie juice and smoothies. It also serves appetizers, such as sweet potato fries, Japanese sausages, spring rolls and crispy popcorn chicken.

This is literally flour, milk, and an egg that’s pan fried or made on those fancy crepe makers. How something that costs 5 cents and a few seconds to make is being charged $8.50 just boggles my mind.
