Woman’s body found by Astoria shoreline, police investigating

A woman was found dead along the shoreline at 21st Avenue and Shore Boulevard Friday afternoon, according to police.

The NYPD responded to a phone call at 12:45 pm, Jan. 22, that a woman had been found dead along the shoreline. Upon arrival, the police discovered an unresponsive woman with trauma to her head and legs. EMS declared her deceased on the scene.

The woman’s name has not been released.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death and the investigation is ongoing.
