Massive Sports Bar/Burger Joint to Open on Steinway in April

Taking the space that was formerly Bud’s Ale House

Feb. 24, 2014 By Michael Florio

A successful Forest Hills burger joint called Twist and Smash’d is opening up a second location in Astoria.

The Astoria locale will focus on sports and it will be 5,000 square feet in size, with 52 TVs. It will be located at 34-02 Steinway Street (which was previously Bud’s Ale House) and is expected to open in April, according to Brianna Cano, the owner.

The massive venue (compared to the 1,400 square foot Forest Hills space) will also feature two indoor bocce ball courts and a full service bar. The establishment will be called Twist and Smash’d Sports.

The menu will be similar to its original location, which features a variety of burgers, salads and twisted potatoes on a stick. There will also be a bar menu that will include chicken wings and nachos.

Cano said she is excited about the Astoria venue.

“There’s tons of foot traffic and this location is perfectly positioned next to the bus stop and subway station,” she said. “We feel like Astoria is a very up and coming area with a lot of new business opening and people migrating to the area.”

The blog We Heart Astoria first wrote of the restaurant moving into the neighborhood last week.
