Man robs Astoria bodega, needed help to open register

Police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a 21st Street bodega over the weekend.

The suspect entered the bodega, located at 27-19 21st Street, on Saturday at about 11:10 pm, before jumping over the counter and attempting to open the cash register.

When the suspect was unable to open the register he simulated a firearm inside a brown bag and ordered an employee to open it.

The employee complied and the suspect removed the register draw with cash, before fleeing the scene on foot, according to police.

Police describe the suspect as a male with light complexion, approximately 6’ tall and 185 pounds. He was wearing a brown T-shirt wrapped around his head, a black jacket, black jeans and black sneakers.

Police have released a video of the suspect and are asking anyone with any information to call 1-800-577-TIPS.

I’m hoping this guy got hit by a car as he left the store he robbed and the driver of the vehicle left the scene of the accident. Another piece of garbage roaming our streets.

Is this the same guy who robbed the Bodega on Northern Blvd. and 54th street mentioned in a news article in the Sunnyside Post?
