Completing the dream of her late sister, Sunnyside native Irene Siderakis opened a pet spa for Astoria’s furriest friends last month.

The store, called Angel’s Care Holistic Pet Spa, is located at 29-02 30th Ave and has quickly become a hot-spot for dog owners who do not want to travel far to pamper their pets, Siderakis said.

Some of the spa services include mud baths to treat fleas and dry skin, massages with water jets, oil rubs for inflammation, and hair cuts for styling.Pet Spa 02

The store’s most eye-catching feature, however, is the Aroma Therapy Spa, which according to Siderakis, has been in development for fifteen years.

“It uses oxygen therapy to relax pets, and an ionizer that lifts dead hair, dander, fleas and ticks. The oxygen is beneficial for their respiratory system, as well,” said Siderakis, adding that it is a non-invasive, holistic method for calming dogs down before and after baths and other treatments.

Angel’s Care also offers hydrotherapy, or what can best be described as a dog Jacuzzi, which Siderakis says, “is great for arthritis and achy muscles, or just to relax your four legged best friend!”

Among treats and other items, Siderakis says she is proud to sell Primal Pet Foods, which she believes is the best food product as it uses certified organic vegetables, and ingredients that are 100 percent free of added hormones, antibiotics, grain and gluten.

Alternatively, the store sells other items, such as various toys, creative leashes and collars, as well as carrying bags for pets.

Those who are interested in learning more are invited to call the store at 718-777-0277, or visit by taking a short walk from the 30th Ave N/Q station by Athens Square Park.

Op-Ed | Four years after Hurricane Ida, Queens deserves real climate resilience

Sep. 2, 2025 By Assembly Member Jessica González-Rojas

Four years ago, Hurricane Ida tore through our neighborhoods of East Elmhurst, Corona and Jackson Heights, leaving behind devastation we will never forget. We lost neighbors to the floodwaters. Families saw their homes destroyed, their basements wiped out, their lives upended. Immigrant families—so many of them undocumented—were hit the hardest, often excluded from relief altogether. Ida was not just a storm; it was a wake-up call.
