A new restaurant on 30th Avenue opened this week with a focus on serving seasonal Indian dishes.
Kurry Qulture, located at 36-05 30th Ave., will serve authentic Indian food, with the menu varying every three months based on what dishes are in season.
Currently, the menu features several dishes that go with the fall holidays, such as Thanksgiving, according to owner Sonny Soloman. Items include turkey dishes, Quail, turnips, sweet potatoes, fish steamed in banana leaf and lamb chops.
“Anything we serve you can eat in India,” he said.
He added that in the winter the curry will be a richer sauce, while it will be lighter in the summer months.

While there are other Indian restaurants in Astoria and even on 30th Avenue, Soloman said he feels his is unique due to its changing seasonal menu.
Soloman, 41, grew up in India before moving to the United States 17 years ago. He has spent the past 15 living in Astoria, not far from the restaurant’s location.
He said he has always been attracted to 30th Avenue due to the foot traffic and the liveliness the block offers.
“I always visit 30th Avenue and go shopping there on my days off,” he said.
The restaurant is open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. It can seat 65 people in total.
The restaurant also features a full bar serving cocktails, wine and beer.
